Joe says Dons can churn out win

-

JOE LEWIS has backed Aberdeen to survive a trip to Livingston’s artificial graveyard and finish the year in style.

The Dons keeper isn’t a huge fan of the fake pitch in West Lothian but reckons the grass can look greener for the Reds with a precious win to stay in the Premiership title race.

Lewis and his team-mates hope to succeed where Celtic, Rangers, Hibs, Hearts and Killie have failed this term by grabbing a victory in the Lions’ den.

Few teams get their game going on the surface but the Aberdeen No.1 said: “We are confident we can go there, regardless of the surface, and churn out a good result.

“I don’t like those pitches. I don’t think there is a place for them in the top league but I won’t use that as an excuse.

“It is not ideal for football in general but it is what it is. We have to go there and play on it.

“We can’t control that but what we can control is our mindset and approach to the game. We have to make sure that is right.”

Aberdeen have rocketed up the BY CRAIG SWAN table during a busy December and Lewis is adamant the Boxing Day loss to Celtic has not damaged morale going into the final game before the winter shutdown.

He said: “We could have quite easily come away with a draw there but we didn’t.

“We weren’t happy with the goals but we’ve had to shuffle things around quite a bit and move things.

“Little moments in the game we could have done better individually and those were the reasons why we came away with nothing.
