THIS COULD BE THEIR DAY AT LAST

-

fitter and stronger than ever and he effortlessly bullies central defenders with 10 years on him in the senior game.

Twenty goals in 34 games so far? That’s some return and if he was Scottish we’d be singing his praises from the rooftops.

He has been a talisman for Rangers this season and has almost single-handedly kept his team in the title hunt.

People took a pop at him for his performance in the goalless draw against Hibs at Easter Road last week but Morelos never hides and if he misses a chance he always makes himself available for the next one – and invariably takes it. He’s mentally strong.

I liked the comments of Gerrard after the Hibs game in which he asked his players to roll their sleeves up for Rangers or not bother turning up. Fans have been getting jumpy these last few weeks, some of them even with the gaffer, but it’s time they calmed down and reminded themselves of the bigger picture.

Gerrard has had one transfer window and transformed a new squad with 15 arrivals and for the last few weeks has looked like a manager desperate to fast forward to the transfer window so he can get on with his rebuilding job.

Rangers fans will outnumber Celtic 50 to one at Ibrox and while it’s a demanding fan base and players need broad shoulders to perform at Ibrox, they’ll be right behind the team for this one.

For the first time in too long, I reckon they might even be heading home and into the new year with something to cheer.
