Rogic Oz rest snub to Celts

AUSTRALIA are set to add insult to injury to Celtic by resting Tom Rogic for their final warm-up game before the Asian Cup tomorrow.

Celtic are unhappy they won’t be able to call upon the midfielder for today’s Old Firm showdown.

Ahead of their friendly with Oman, Aussie boss Graham Arnold said: “I’m looking to get minutes for those who haven’t played much recently.”

“Now if that happens in the game, it happens. We both want to win. I just think people assumed there would be fireworks.

“I am not saying there never will be because in a game of football you never know how you are going to react, but at the moment everything is respectful.”

An Old Firm game can elicit the most remarkable responses from managers, just ask Neil Lennon and Ally McCoist, but the image of Gerrard and Rodgers jabbing angry fingers at each other’s faces doesn’t spring easily to mind.
