Arfield: Our belief can take us all the way

-

SCOTT ARFIELD insists Rangers will never lose their belief no matter how much the club takes a battering.

On Saturday the Light Blues won a first Old Firm league game since 2012. That follows qualification to the Europa League group stage this season which leaves the Scottish Cup and a league title as their two remaining targets.

Former Burnley man Arfield, who turned the tables on Hoops skipper Scott Brown, said: “It means so much to this club after so many years. We have been battered from pillar to post and you have good days and bad days at this football club but the belief never changes.

“These fans have stuck by this club through thick and thin and that is what it’s all about. It’s a massive marker for us.

“The manager has installed an unbelievable group of human beings in that dressing room and you always believe, with that crowd behind you and we know we can get a result anywhere.”

Brown has dominated recent Old Firm derby games but Arfield was so on top he even mocked his Celtic rival by using his famous outstretched-arms “Broony” pose.

Arfield said: “In any game you need to dominate that midfield and particularly in Old Firm games. We did that. We dominated that midfield and won the game.

“We always want to be there, that is what this club is built on. We want to be top of this league.

“It’s one game, it has got us back on track. We’ve had a number of bad results throughout the season but we have given ourselves a good chance.

“We rest then go again and go harder than we have for this six months.”
