CELTS NOW FEAR GERS

-

RYAN KENT reckons rampant Rangers will have struck fear into their Premiership rivals after their dominant derby victory over Celtic.

And the Liverpool loanee has reiterated his desire to stay at Ibrox for the long haul if club chiefs can thrash out a deal with Jurgen Klopp’s Reds.

Kent, under contract at Anfield until 2022, was a standout on Saturday.

Steven Gerrard’s side are now level on points with the champions at the summit going into the winter break and Kent said: “I’d like to think we’ve put doubt in Celtic’s minds and the way we played I think everyone will fear us in the league.

“There was a lot more riding on that game for the club than just three points, I get that. To show everyone that we mean business.

“But it only puts us back level on points with Celtic. It’s up to us to carry on producing performances like that in the second half of the season.

“We were the better team. There are a lot of good players in our squad and you can see what it means to them. They all put 110 per cent in. When we perform like that you can see what we can get out of games.”

Kent has yet to play a competitive first-team game for Liverpool and his switch to Ibrox is just the latest in a string of loan moves.

Gerrard has already spoken of his desire to sign the player on a permanent basis and Kent would be up for it if a deal can be thrashed out.

He said: “It’s something I’m considering. It’s a chat Rangers are going to have to have with Liverpool because I still have three years left on my contract there.

“So it’s a bit out of my hands and the honest answer is I don’t know what my future holds. That’s something Jurgen Klopp will have to answer.”

Kent insists the players answered boss Gerrard after he demanded to know who was on board with him following the Boxing Day draw against Hibs.

He said: “The manager has been massively inspirational. He wanted every player to be on board with him this week, he wanted to make sure every player was behind him.

“He just told us to go and enjoy our football because that’s when we have been at our best. He told us to take the game to Celtic, put on a big show for the fans and that’s what we did.

“We have a lot to look forward to in the second half of the season and the players can put everything on the line, especially for the manager.”

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t think it’s probably biggest derby in the world RYAN KENT
