DUNDEE SNAP UP TANNADICE HITMAN CRAIG

- BY SCOTT BURNS

CRAIG CURRAN will swap Dundee United’s promotion push for a relegation dogfight at Dundee after agreeing to become Jim McIntyre’s first January signing.

The 29-year-old striker played under the Dens boss at Ross County and will rejoin him to bolster the Dark Blues’ bid for top-flight safety.

Curran is still under contract at United but manager Robbie Neilson will let him go for a second crack at the Premiership.

McIntyre is looking to revamp his squad in the transfer window and has already released Adil Nabi plus sent Calvin Miller and Andy Boyle back to Celtic and Preston respectively.

The Dens manager has also told Sofien Moussa, Elton Ngwatala, Kharl Madianga, Marcus Haber, Lewis Spence and Jean Mendy they are free to find new clubs.

Martin Woods is out of contract this month but the Dees are hopeful of extending that agreement for the campaign.

Experienced midfielder James Vincent will remain on loan at Dunfermline until his contract expires in the summer.

Meanwhile, Cardiff gaffer Neil Warnock has confirmed Dens midfielder Glen Kamara is on his January radar.

The Bluebirds have had the Finland international watched several times in recent weeks and can land him for a cut-price fee.

The 23-year-old is out of contract in the summer and Warnock said: “He’s a good player without a shadow of a doubt.

“He’s one of a number of Scottish lads we’ve looked at. We’ve asked about five or six players and have back-ups in case our No.1 targets don’t come off.”

Several clubs including Swansea and Bayer Leverkusen are also interested in the former Arsenal youngster.

Celtic and Rangers have scouted him but a move to either looks extremely unlikely.

Previous Dens boss Neil McCann signed Kamara at the start of last season but he has been in and out of the team since McIntyre took over.

Dundee have still to indicate whether they will open contract talks but nothing is likely to happen as long as the club have the threat of relegation hanging over them.

It is likely that if a suitable offer comes in this month the Dark Blues will look to cash in and boost McIntyre’s transfer kitty.
