They have highlighte­d 15 key aspects of finance that secondary school pupils should be aware of: Understand financial paperwork Know the meaning of informatio­n on bank statements, payslips and utility bills and interpret it to plan and set a personal budget. Take charge of their own money That includes being able to alter their budget when necessary. Understand saving and borrowing Be able to identify situations where credit cards and loans are options. Resist pressure Understand how others may try to influence saving and spending and show how to resist pressure. Appreciate value for money Understand there are different ways to calculate value for money.
