GARRY OWEN’S TOP TIPS

-

GLITTERING LOVE (3.10) can sparkle for Nicky Richards on Ayr’s ever-popular New Year Raceday.

The seven-year-old is a prolific winner in points and made an impressive rules debut when beating Well Above Par over 2m 4f at Hexham.

The gelding is open to plenty more progress in this sphere and should relish the step up to three miles on handicap bow.

Richards can also take the Teresa Dewan Handicap Chase BY GARRY OWEN with ECHO EXPRESS (2.10). The seven-year-old has taken well to fences and can build on his gritty defeat of Kavanaghs Corner at Hexham last month.

JOHNBB (12.30) looks a warm order in the maiden for Hereford handler Tom Lacey.

The five-year-old was third behind a couple of useful types on his timber bow at Warwick and should come on plenty.

STRONG RESEMBLANCE (1.00) can enjoy his fourth victory of the campaign in the three-miler. Oliver Greenall’s gelding made a winning return to timber at Huntingdon and remains on a workable mark.

Keith Dalgleish likes a winner here and he can strike with SENOR LOMBARDY (2.40). The six-year-old was going well when falling over fences at Kelso and can gain a confidenceboosting victory over hurdles.

Decent punts at Hereford are headed by Jonjo O’Neill’s BAHAMA MOON (12.50). The seven-year-old made late headway to take third over two miles at Sedgefield and should be even better up in trip.

Tom Symonds is hitting form and he can take staying chase thanks to EATON MILLER (1.20). The gelding was a good second to Lord Getaway on his fencing bow at Huntingdon.

WESTERN WAVE (3.00) can leave his rivals washed up in the Mansionbet Handicap Hurdle.

■Neil Alexander is eyeing a Grand National tilt with Lake View Lad. The grey is likely to warm up for Aintree in next month’s trial at Haydock.

■Willie Mullins said Kemboy is likely to head straight to the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March after bolting up in Savilles Chase at Leopardstown. Ryanair hero Sharjah was also unlikely to run again before Champion Hurdle.

Colin Tizzard said Ladbrokes Trophy winner Sizing Tennessee is out injured for the rest of the season.
