MONEY’S NO ISSUEINDEAL FOR CHARLIE

FROM BACK PAGE with the club, said: “Scotland is an option.

“At the moment I can’t say I want to go here or there because there has been no contact.

“Clubs will probably think it’s going to be too expensive but until somebody comes to the table and speaks to my agent or myself I won’t know or where we go from there. At the moment I’m just waiting and training and seeing what opportunities arise.

“It’s not about the money. It’s about coming and playing and enjoying it. It’s about going to a club where you are going to have an opportunity to play, express yourself and show people you are still a good player.

“I’ve never doubted I’m a good player.

“The only thing for me is I’ve not played. I want to come and play and enjoy my football again.

“I’m 33 and I’ve not played for six months now really.

“So it’s not that I’m desperate to come back to Scotland but if the opportunity arose to come back here it’s something I’m open to.

“I’ve had six-and-a-half great years at Stoke but it’s probably now the right time to move.”

Adam insisted he is keeping his options open but made no secret of the fact a Rangers return would appeal.

He said: “Listen, everybody is going to presume Rangers is the one for me but I’ve had no contact.

“Everybody knows if it came around it would interest me because it’s a big club, I’ve been there before, I understand what it is to play for a club of that size.

“I started there and a lot of people are still there from when I was there.

“But as far as it goes, we’ll see what happens in the coming weeks. Would it interest me? Absolutely and that’s as far as I would say. I don’t know what they’re thinking of where they’re at.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen. If anything comes up then we’ll have to sit down as a family and make a decision on where I go.”

Former Liverpool man Adam insisted he is in full fitness and there is plenty left in the tank.

He said: “I want to play for as long as I can.

“I’m not just thinking about the next six months. I’m thinking long term.

“I still feel I can play, I’m still fit. Because my game has never really been based on being quick or anything, I’m not going to slow up.”

Meanwhile, Jermain Defoe’s odds on joining Rangers have been slashed to 4-5.

The former England striker has been told he can leave Bournemouth this month.

Record Sport revealed last summer of Steven Gerrard’s interest in the 36-year-old and bookies reckon he’s odds on to join the Ibrox side.
