Singer-songwriter continues to rake in the cash

- BY STUART MACDONALD

POP star Amy Macdonald is worth more than £6million, according to her latest accounts.

This is the Life was one of Amy’s biggest hits – now it could be what she says as she counts her dosh on the beach in Dubai.

But Amy is a great ambassador for Scotland and has never forgotten her roots.

SCOTS pop star Amy Macdonald’s fortune hit more than £6million last year.

Figures from accounts filed at Companies House showed that after paying off debts, the three companies who manage the singer-songwriter’s business had a combined value of £6,120,971.

Amy Macdonald Ltd, who channel earnings from her songwriting royalties, had £1.95million in their coffers after making a profit of more than £200,000 in the year to April 2018.

Her second company, Amy Macdonald Touring Ltd, made about £100,000 to increase their value to almost £3million, while her third firm All Right On The Night have £1.2million in the bank.

The figures revealed that the 31-year-old, who married St Johnstone footballer Richard Foster last year, has an investment portfolio worth £3.7million.

She is the sole director of the firms and her accountant mum Josephine is company secretary.

Amy, from Bishopbriggs, near Glasgow, has released four albums since bursting on to the music scene in 2007 with her debut This Is The Life, which sold more than three million copies.

Amy has sold 12million records in total and has become a huge star in countries like Germany and Denmark as well as the UK.

She released her fourth album Under Stars in 2017 and a Best Of last year.

While raking in the cash, Amy has not been shy in splashing out – much to her mum’s dismay.

The car fan bought a £170,000 Ferrari 458 Speciale and a Ferrari 488 GTB worth £200,000. She was also one of the first people selected to snap up a £250,000 Ford GT.

Amy said: “My mother was very much of the mind, who needs two Ferraris?

“But I could sell the Speciale for what I paid for it and I’ve driven it a fair bit. She’s always worried I’ll bankrupt myself over cars but I told her it would be funny if the things that ended up sorting me for life were the Ferraris. ‘I’d be happy,’ she said. ‘Irritated, but happy.’”
