Police investigation continues

-

ALEX Salmond still faces a separate criminal investigation by Police Scotland despite his court victory yesterday.

The police probe into the sexual harassment claims is codenamed Operation Diem.

Last year, we revealed allegations about the former first minister’s conduct towards two staff members in 2013 while he was in office.

A woman told Scottish BY ALAN McEWEN Government investigators it took repeated requests to stop an alcohol-fuelled Salmond’s advances in his official bedchamber.

The Record saw the wording of a detailed complaint by one of the Government staff members who lodged complaints against him.

She alleged multiple incidences of harassment and conduct of an unwanted sexual nature during Salmond’s time in office.

The Scottish Government passed on details of the complaint to police.

Officers initially focused on former Government staffers who had worked with Salmond between April 2013 and November 2014, but have since widened the investigation.

In November, we revealed that police interviewed workers at Edinburgh Airport. It’s understood informal complaints were made by at least three female members of security staff relating to comments and behaviour from Salmond as he prepared to board flights in 2008.

None of them wanted to make a formal complaint and the matter was settled without any official procedures being set off.

Salmond denies all the allegations against him.

A police spokeswoman said yesterday: “Our inquiries continue.”
