Star of Gavin & Stacey, Cilla, Mrs Biggs and The C Word, the actress and singer has had a multitude of hits on the small screen, and this latest one looks promising, too.
Sheridan plays Sam, a struggling mum with an online gambling addiction.
After separating from her husband Dave (Matthew McNulty), he is threatening to take her daughters Alice and Lily away because she’s clearly not in control of their family life.
Completely broke, racking up credit card bills and in debt to a loan shark, Sam is doing her best to get back on track while working a zero-hour contract on the minimum wage as a cleaner in London’s Canary Wharf.
But life is extremely tough. She goes without food to give the kids their dinner, she works every hour of every night and her 15-year-old daughter Alice is proving a daily battle, while the younger one, Lily, is getting into trouble at school.
That’s not to mention that, at every spare moment, she’s spinning roulette on her mobile phone and chucking what little money she has straight down the drain. But one night, while cleaning offices, she makes a discovery, overhearing someone getting up to some insider trading.
