Dingwall: I’ve left Dingwall

-

BY ALAN MARSHALL ROSS COUNTY last night farmed out young striker Russell Dingwall to Stenhousemuir until the end of the season.

Brother Tony, also a Dingwall attacker, is close to sealing a loan deal with Raith Rovers.

Russell, 21, was captain of the ground-breaking County development side that swept away the Old Firm and Aberdeen to win the Premiership title in 2016-17.

But the local lad has found it tough to break into County’s title-chasing Championship side and beats the same path south as team-mate Harry Paton did in the first half of this campaign.

Co-manager Steven Ferguson was delighted to tie up a deal with his old County team-mate Colin McMenamin, the Warriors’ manager.

Ferguson said: “It will be good for Russell. He’s played enough reserve games and development football but needs to go out now and gain firstteam experience.

“He had a good six months with Forfar last year so if he can go and replicate that I’m sure he will enjoy it and we will see where it takes him from there.

“Tony was training at Raith Rovers last week and there seems to be interest but nothing’s been rubber-stamped.” ROBBIE NEILSON has told Dundee United’s new owners there is no time to waste as he looks to put the pieces in place for a promotion push.

The Tannadice boss is hoping to snap up Hearts targetman Osman Sow and St Mirren playmaker Cammy Smith this week as he revealed American investor Mark Ogren could be set to hit town for the Dunfermline game on Saturday.

Neilson has been in constant touch with the new chief to lay out his plans for the January window – and insists United can’t afford to hang about.

He said: “The games are slowly counting down. We have 16 games left, do we leave it to 15 or 14?

“We want to get a squad together but there are not a lot of games left and we want to start winning and getting up
