y was s. I re going down and the cancer is chemo-resistant and everyone is trying everything. But at the moment we’re not getting any success and if it doesn’t work, I’m going to die and it will be soon. Of course, they were shocked and I held them very tight.”

Roz started researching treatment options and read about CAR-T cell therapy.

She said: “It’s had extraordinary results and medics say it’s a game-changer for cancer treatment. I’d heard about a CAR-T cell therapy trial in London and they accepted me in principle, but it’s not until the end of March, so I need to stay alive until that trial comes up.

“It’s possibile I could be excluded from the trial for certain reasons or if my health deteriorates or the cancer changes – or it could come too late. I can’t take the risk of waiting.”

Roz’s children are at the forefront of her mind in her fight for survival.

She added: “I just really want to be here to see them grow up. I want to see how their story unfolds and be there to love and support them. I want to hold my grandchildren one day.”

Roz is delighted with the cash raised already – but she has a way to go.

She said: “I’m just asking people to give a little bit. Time is running out. It was the last roll of the dice but now I feel really positive that we can do this.” ●To help Roz, visit www.gofundme.com/lifesavingtreatment-for-roz achieve, or something you’ve spent years striving towards. Like Murray, you’ve given it your all, never thinking you would fail or have to give up. Maybe we can all take a little lesson out of this. We should appreciate and love what we have because we never know when it could be taken away from us. Be it a job, a friend, a family member, a hobby, or a dream – sometimes you never know the moment. To be told you can no longer do the one thing you love most will change the direction of your future. But while you’re in the moment, cherish it, grab it and hold on, just like Murray would. Even in his Australian Open match on Monday, he didn’t let his opponent away with an easy win. He fought like the Scot and lionheart he is. And perhaps that’s the one final lesson we can all learn from Murray. He has taught us a great deal about life – not just sport. He has taught us to chase our dreams, to work hard to achieve our goals, to do whatever it takes to make a difference and most of all, that where we are from doesn’t have to define us or our future. jennifer. russell @reachplc. com
