DRINKS ARE ON JONJO

- BY GARRY OWEN

QUARENTA (2.50) can pay for a few rounds when he lands the Mionetto Prosecco Handicap Chase at Newbury.

Jonjo O’Neill’s gelding has returned to form over fences, finishing fourth to Glen Forsa at Chepstow before opening his account at Warwick.

The Jackdaws Castle handler is a dab hand with staying chasers and this tough sevenyear-old looks a sure-fire improver in his new career.

In-form Gary Moore can strike again with AR MEST (1.10) in the opening Ebm Handicap Hurdle. The six-year-old relished the return to two miles when beating Percy Street at Leicester and remains nicely treated thanks to Niall Houlihan’s 10lb claim.

The Sussex handler can later add to his tally with LE PRECIEUX (2.15) in the novice chase. The gelding improved again over fences when slamming Clondaw Castle at Ludlow and this talented type can shrug off an 11lb hike.

Moore can also enjoy a winner at Plumpton courtesy of RUBY YEATS (2.35) in the staying hurdle. The mare made eyecatching late headway to take third behind Bonza Girl over 2m 5f at Fontwell and can build on that effort over three miles.

Venetia Williams has also hit form and can land the veterans’ chase with UHLAN BUTE (3.10). The 11-year-old was a respectable third to Beau Du Brizais in a red-hot event at Ludlow and can regain the winning thread down in class.

GENEROUS JACK (4.10) can get his season back on track in the Sw Catering Handicap Hurdle. Suzi Best’s gelding ran better than the bare result when sixth over course and distance last time and can take advantage of a very fair mark.

DEBBONAIR (1.20) can turn on the style for Hugo Palmer on the Lingfield all-weather. The three-year-old decisively landed a one-mile Kempton nursery last month and can improve again over extra two furlongs.

HIGHLAND ACCLAIM (2.25) can just shade a trappy seven-furlong handicap for David O’Meara. The eightyear-old is quirky but he is in decent form and can exact his revenge on recent course and distance conqueror Kodiline.

Hugo Palmer’s JAMES STREET (3.00) is the route to profit in Ladbrokes Handicap.
