The BBC is considering scrapping the free licences after the Tory Government handed it responsibility for its annual £720million funding.

Tory MP Ross Thomson was thrown out of a House of Commons bar by police on Tuesday after being accused of sexually touching young drinkers. He criticised the Aberdeen South MP in a statement made to the media after First Minister’s Questions at Holyrood.
Carlaw said: “Inquiries are ongoing, however I know enough to say that the alleged behaviour is completely unacceptable and falls well below the standard I think any of us would expect from any elected representative.”
Thomson, who was escorted off the Westminster estate by officers after his behaviour in Parliament’s Strangers’ Bar on Tuesday night, was keeping a low profile yesterday.
The 31-year-old MP had been accused of being “incredibly drunk” and groping men in the bar. Scotland Yard confirmed officers had been called to the scene after claims of “sexual touching”.
But they added that, after speaking to the men, no formal complaint had been made.
The alleged incident is under investigation by the party.
On Wednesday, Thomson’s ex-husband Douglas Mathewson tweeted that it was “a good insight into why we are no longer together”.
