WE’RE A SITTING TARGET
DEFENCE chiefs risk leaving Scotland like a “sitting target” because of a lack of investment in armed services, an MP claims.
The SNP’s Chris Stephens raised concern days after a Commons debate on spending. He called for the UK Government to live up to promises to build ships on the Clyde and Forth.
He warned a lack of patrol vessels makes Scotland vulnerable, adding: “The incompetence from the Tories threatens to leave Scotland a sitting target, with the SNP discovering that no surface vessels patrol Scottish waters, which make up 60 per cent of UK waters.
“The focus should be on conventional defence programmes and the Trident nukes must be consigned to the dustbin of history.”
