UK seas are part of new Blue Planet

Packham and Burke BY NICOLA METHVEN HIT TV series Blue Planet is getting a new daytime spin-off, focusing on the seas around Britain.

Fronted by Springwatch’s Chris Packham and Gillian Burke plus Countryfile presenter Steve Brown, Blue Planet UK will air in March.

Like 2017’s Blue Planet II, fronted by Sir David Attenborough, the show will put plastic pollution at the top of the agenda.

BBC daytime boss Dan McGolpin said: “I think the opportunity to look at seas around the UK is going to really appeal to people.”

Other new daytime BBC shows include documentary series Good Morning Dagenham, narrated by Larry Lamb, and Curiosity, an antiques game show, hosted by Paul Martin.
