Hols plane diverted over tea
BY KIRSTY McKENZIE PASSENGERS on board a Jet2 flight from Glasgow to Tenerife saw their plane diverted because there wasn’t any water for tea and coffee.
The holidaymakers were forced to change planes at Manchester airport – less than one hour after setting off – after a plumbing fault on flight LS155.
The flight left Glasgow Airport at 8.55am yesterday bound for the Canary Islands but was redirected to Manchester while over the Republic of Ireland.
Jet2 said the flight landed safely in Manchester where fire crews were on the scene as a standard precautionary measure.
A Jet2 spokeswoman confirmed the diversion.
She said: “There was a technical issue with water on board. There wasn’t water for teas and coffees.”
She added that passengers had been transferred on to another flight to Tenerife and were being “well looked after”.
Many passengers took to social media to blast the airline for the disruption,
One passenger fumed: “So plane from Glasgow to Tenerife had to turn back and emergency land in Manchester because they had no water supply for hot drinks! My a***. Get a better excuse next time.”
Another wrote: “Disgusted at this. Holiday ruined before it’s even started.”
