Transgender category move for traditional sports

Ahead of today’s meeting, SHGA secretary Ian Grieve sent committee members an email saying there were demands for women to be allowed to get more involved in games. He added: “It might not stop there.”
James Morton, manager at Scottish Trans Alliance, said: “Highland Games should showcase positive traditions but not out-dated sexist exclusion.
“We hope the SHGA will embrace bringing these exciting Scottish traditional sports to ever wider audiences and diverse competitors.”
The SHGA talks on gender equality come ahead of a meeting between it and the Scottish Government to discuss funding.
Last month, Scottish Athletics announced all their championship events will include a non-binary gender category.
