Processed food ‘brings death closer’
EATING too many burgers, pizzas, biscuits and cakes can knock decades off your life, say researchers.
The Paris-Sorbonne University study found deaths from heart disease, cancer and other illnesses were linked to eating of “ultra-processed food”.
This included chips, white bread, ready meals, sausages, sugary cereals and fizzy drinks.
These foods now make up half the average Briton’s diet – which is killing us, say the scientists. A 10 per cent rise in intake was linked to a 14 per cent rise in the risk of dying from a non-communicable disease over the next eight years.
