Visitors to Harry Potter rail line double in 10 years

THE number of people travelling on the “Harry Potter line” to see the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct has doubled in the last decade.

Statistics published by the Office of Rail Regulation show an increase in the popularity of the Fort William to Mallaig train, which runs over the bridge.

The Hogwarts Express travels over the viaduct as it takes pupils to school in BY LEWIS McKENZIE the movie adaptation of JK Rowling’s novels.

With more than 1000 visitors flocking to Glenfinnan Station in 2017-18, ScotRail will build a new footpath to help handle the numbers.

A walkway between the railway station and the viaduct will also be upgraded to provide easier access to new viewing areas.
