Course a fine alternative
USE of driver retraining courses as an alternative to penalty points and a fine is up 36 per cent in five years.
National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme data reveals 1.45million did a course after a motoring offence last year – up from 1.07million in 2013.
Courses have been attended by more than 10million people since 2010.
The RAC Foundation said: “This data suggests as many as one in four drivers has now been sent back to the classroom.”
