PICK DAY

Hungover Pete crashes into barn EMMERDALE STV, 7pm & 8pm A DRAMATIC couple of episodes tonight with some tractor trouble up at the barn. A hungover Matty fails to tell an equally hungover Pete the tractor isn’t working properly.

Later on, the brakes fail with Pete at the wheel and he swerves into the barn where Rhona is covering Vanessa’s shift. Pete crashes through but will Rhona manage to avoid being hurt?

Elsewhere, Chas is worried when Paddy’s DNA results arrive. And Jai takes action over Manpreet’s situation.

C4, 9pm TV and radio presenter Alice Levine is off to the seaside – but it’s not going to be much of a holiday.

She’s spending the week with British nationalist Jack Sen and his family in a bid to understand more about extremist attitudes, which are on the rise throughout the Western world.

“I embrace diversity and tolerance,” she says. “He’s definitely going to say stuff that turns my stomach. Seven days is a really long time.”

It’s a bizarre set-up as Alice stays in the Southport home of Jack, his Ukrainian wife, their young daughter and Jack’s mother, who immediately declares Donald Trump is her hero.

Jack, who was expelled from UKIP after sending anti-semitic tweets and was even suspended from the far-right BNP, now promotes his right-wing “message” online from home. And as Alice moves in, she knows she’s going to have to use her best poker face.

She listens to Jack explain why he is against multiculturalism and has issues with blacks, Jews, Muslims, homosexuals, feminists and liberals.

Clearly shocked, Alice comments that his views are “troubling”, “ludicrous” and “offensive”.

She is introduced to Jack’s online community, including former leader of the Ku Klux Klan, David Duke; Tim Scott, a former British Army soldier who promotes farright causes and ex-BNP leader Nick Griffin.

There are many odd moments but watch out for one particularly heated debate when Alice prods Jack – real name Dilip Sengupta – on his Indian heritage.

And the whole nauseating affair ends with Alice experiencing “one of the most uncomfortable moments of her life”.
