Thomson: We’ve got power in numbers

GLASGOW ...... 43 CONNACHT ..... 17

BRANDON THOMSON reckons Glasgow’s deep squad power can tee up a tilt at the Pro14 crown.

The playmaker turned in a man of the match display to help the Warriors demolish chief chasers Connacht.

Despite being without 21 frontline stars, Dave Rennie’s side produced a thrilling display.

And Thomson said: “We have developed strength in depth here and when the Scotland men are away, these guys jump in and do the job.”

Glasgow grabbed a try after just 44 seconds through George Horne.

Thomson slotted the conversion and he extended their lead with his next strike.

The visitors clicked into gear midway through the half to create a fine try for winger Stephen Fitzgerald.

Glasgow scored next as Tim Swinson was driven over – with Thomson’s kick spot-on once more.

Warriors kept up the momentum and Grant Stewart grabbed another try just before the interval.

Thomson’s conversion stretched the lead.

Stewart completed his quick-fire double to make sure of the bonus point and Thomson kept his 100 per cent record with the boot.

Paul Boyle got Connacht their second touchdown but Robbie Nairn got try No.5 – goaled by Thomson.

Tom Daly pulled back one for the Galway troops before Nairn grabbed his second try for Glasgow.
