I’ ve been married twice before and never thought I was going to say ‘Yes’ again but I did. I’m saying ‘Yes’ again!
and Seal raised daughter Leni, who she had with Formula One racing boss Flavio Briatore, and three of their own.
Tom Kaulitz, 29, is the lucky man this time, a guitairst for German rock band Tokio Hotel, having swept Heidi off her feet during awards season a year ago before popping the question at Christmas.
Heidi said: “I was surprised although I was kind of thinking it was going to go that way because we just clicked. It was bizarre. When we met, it felt like we were already married. I have been married twice before and I never thought I was going to say ‘Yes’ again, but I did.”
While Heidi is 16 years older than Tom, she was insantly smitten.
She said: “We met February 22, 2018, and I would have married him that day, probably.”
Tom drew the designs and picked the stones for the engagement ring and then made it himself. Heidi said: “Isn’t that romantic?”
She may be one of the most photographed women on the planet but she is clearly head-over-heels for her German rock star.
“I am just very happy,” she said. “He was there when I least expected it. I didn’t want to go out that night but I went to my friend’s birthday party and there he was. Then it happened.”
The wedding date has been set but when asked Heidi only says: “Soon.”
The kids – Leni, 14, Henry, 14, Johan, 12 and Lou, nine – are excited and will be part of the wedding celebrations. Lou may even sing. Heidi said: “Lou performed with Seal at the Hollywood Bowl in front of 16,000 people. She walked on to the stage, eight years old (at the time), sat down at the piano and just rocked it.
“I was like, ‘You weren’t even nervous? How is this possible?’ She was like, ‘Nah, it was okay’. I’m still nervous after 25 years of doing this, maybe more. It’s nerve-wracking when you have so many people staring at you. I don’t know if my oldest daughter would do it, or Henry, or Johan, but Lou is like, ‘Yeah, I’ll do this’.”
While most brides’ first thought after they say yes is thinking about the wedding dress, Heidi is in such great shape she’ll be able to wear anything.
She insists she doesn’t have a specific diet and just eats healthily, starting with smoothies in the morning.
She added: “I have four children, so I cook a lot. I don’t really eat out a lot. I think when you eat, or when you order food in, you don’t know what people are putting in there.
“I cook three big meals a day but my last one is at 6pm. I eat with my kids and I think that also helps a little. I think when you eat a little on the earlier side, it has time to digest and that’s a bit better for your body.”
And while she’s known for her outrageous Halloween outfits, we reckon Heidi will be keeping her wedding make-up simple.
She insisted: “A little bit goes a long way. When I’m just running around, I don’t use that much make-up. I love Mario Badescu Buttermilk Cream. I do a scrub, Aapri, because I think it’s good to exfoliate twice a week. It keeps your skin rejuvenated.”
Her beauty advice for her daughters is not to follow the current Kardashian fad of shading and contouring.
She said: “When my 14-year-old daughter is playing with make-up, I say, ‘You look gorgeous the way you are. You don’t need to pile on that foundation. It’s beautiful to actually see your skin’.”
On top of the wedding, Heidi is also busy preparing a new and stylish chapter in her career.
Having quit Project Runway last year, she has teamed up with Amazon Video to produce and star in a new show that combines the search for new designer talent and shopping. Joined by her Project Runway fashion consultant, Tim Gunn, Heidi is currently looking for designers from around the world.
She said: “We are trying to be the frontrunner of something great in terms of fashion.”
Heidi’s plan for her new fashion show will use the power of Amazon to sell designs seen on the new series.
