SEEING herself in holiday photos spurred Samantha Gordon to lose weight – and now she’s dropped more than five-and-a-half stone ahead of her wedding.
Samantha is so happy at going from a size 18 to an eight that she’s already bought her wedding dress for her big day in August 2020.
She decided to take action after she’d gone on her first holiday to Gran Canaria with boyfriend Tommy Greenan, 28, in July 2011 and was shocked when she saw the snaps.
Support worker Samantha, and kitchen assistant Tommy, live in East Kilbride with their two daughters, Amellia, three and Olivia, one.
She said: “It was the heaviest I’d been in my life. I had just let my weight get out of control. I knew I had to do something otherwise I would just go up and up.”
Tommy’s mum Liz had joined WW – formerly Weight Watchers – and encouraged Samantha to join her.
Sam said: “That first meeting, I was really anxious. When I stepped on the scales and saw I was 14st 4lb, I cried. But at the back of my mind, I knew I had taken the biggest step to making that change by signing up to WW.
“I took it week by week and the weight began to come off.”
After successfully reaching her target weight twice, following the birth of her daughters, Sam had another motivation to get back on track – she got engaged.
She said: “I went wedding dress shopping and got my dream dress. I think having the dress so early, I know I have to keep with WW.”
Samantha knew how much WW had helped her so she also encouraged her mum to join too.
She added: “We all help each other out. It’s important to have that support.”
