THE NILE NAT GEO, 9pm EAT your heart out, Indiana Jones. Actor Joseph Fiennes has joined his cousin, the great explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes, on an expedition – and he’s thrilled about it.

“I’ve grown up with stories of cousin Ran’s remarkable exploits,” explains The Handmaid’s Tale star. “I’d like to test myself.”

The pair are going to take on a journey that recreates Sir Ranulph’s first ever expedition along the River Nile. They meet at the port of Alexandria in Egypt where they prep their Land Rovers for the voyage ahead.

It’s a shaky start for Joseph, who drives for the first few miles with the handbrake on, but that’s nothing compared to what lies ahead.

The road to Cairo includes a crash course in survival techniques and a visit to see meat eating spiders, highly venomous scorpions and snakes. But it’s all taken with good humour, affectiona­te banter and ends with a night inside the Great Pyramid. In this double-bill finale, Marnie’s best friend Helen (Olive Gray) visits her from Scotland but Marnie is terrified of the sexual things that pop into her head when she is around. “I should be able to tell her anything,” she thinks, but how will Helen take the news when Marnie finally reveals what has been troubling her and why she fled to London?

Encouraged by her therapy, Marnie tries trusting her friend – and also decides to bring her two worlds together at a big dinner party. What could possibly go wrong?
