YOU ARE EVIL

Rapper hurls table and smashes water cooler after Taggart star confronts him over death of Louella

-

BY RECORD REPORTER JOHN Michie confronted the killer boyfriend of his daughter during a break in the trial, telling the rapper: “You’re evil, evil.” Twisted Ceon Broughton then flew into a rage, hurling a table across the corridor and smashing a water cooler before being restrained as the Scots actor was ushered away by police. The incident was revealed yesterday as Broughton, 30, was convicted of the manslaughter of Louella FletcherMichie after giving her a “bumped up” dose of party drug 2C-P and filming her for “souvenirs” as she died. Broughton recorded on his iPhone as she hallucinated wildly on the synthetic class A substance and screamed like a “wild animal”, hitting herself and even trying to eat thorns. Grime star Broughton, 30, was told by her panicked family and friends several times to get her to medics but he failed to do so to “protect himself” as he was serving a suspended sentence. Taggart star John, 62, left, and his wife Carol, 68, made a desperate 130-mile dash to Bestival music festival on September 10, 2017, but tragically their daughter died an hour before her 25th birthday.

It was heard the dancer and yoga teacher’s death at Lulworth Castle, Dorset, was the first in the world to have been caused by 2C-P.

During the trial, Broughton refused to give evidence, which prosecutors said was because he had no answer for the “compelling case” against him.

Broughton closed his eyes as he stood in the dock as jurors returned their verdicts at Winchester Crown Court after nine hours of deliberations.

As he was remanded into custody, he urged his barrister: “Text my mum.”

It can now be revealed a 51-minute video of Louella hallucinating shown to court was so distressing, a juror who had experienced drug abuse in their family was dismissed from jury service.

During the trial, it was heard Broughton, who has recorded with top rap artists Skepta and Wiley, filmed his girlfriend tripping on 2C-P, continuing to do so as her condition worsened and after she died.

The on-site hospital was just 400 metres away from the woodland they were in, yet Broughton did not seek help in the six hours he spent with Louella there.

Jurors were shown shocking footage, found on Broughton’s phone, of Louella hallucinating wildly and repeatedly shouting “mum”, as well as “dad, I love you”, before slapping herself on the legs.

An audio clip revealed Broughton laughed at his girlfriend before she appeared to start eating thorns. Grisly iPhone images taken by Broughton on September 10 show a lifeless Louella lying on her back with bloodied hands.

Giving evidence during the trial, John emotionally condemned Broughton. He said: “I think Louella loved Ceon but I’m not sure he loved her. I don’t know how you can say you love someone who you left to die in front of you.

“If I was in Ceon’s situation, I’d have taken another human being – especially my girlfriend who I was supposed to love – to a medical tent to save their life.

“You would have done anything possible

to save the life of another human being, being in the distressed state she was in.

“I felt I needed to get down there and help my daughter. His voice was slow and he didn’t seem to be concerned and any normal person would be.”

Carol sobbed as she told jurors about the moment she discovered her daughter was seriously ill when she spoke to Broughton on the phone.

She said: “I only spoke to Ceon. Louella was like a wild animal in the background. I couldn’t believe that was her and that was the last time I heard her voice. I’ve never heard her before like that. I’ve never heard anyone before like that, that’s why we got in the car and drove down.

“How can someone be next to her and not get help? I don’t know.”

Louella’s sister Daisy added: “I don’t think he was getting the severity of the situation, I was freaking out.

“I so wanted to believe Ceon tried everything he could. That was not the case – now I’ve heard the truth – he did nothing to help her and he put himself first.” During the trial, prosecutor William Mousley QC said Broughton had thought only of himself as he watched Louella suffer, taking videos as souvenirs.

He said: “His failure to get her treatment was borne out of selfishness and self-preservation.

“The reason he let down Louella so badly was to save himself and perhaps even to collect souvenirs of the fatal evening on his phone and that we suggest is shocking and it is despicable.”

Representing Broughton, Stephen Kamlish QC told jurors they could not be certain Louella had not taken such a high dose of 2C-P that she could not have been saved at any point by medics.

Broughton, of Enfield, north London, denied manslaughter and supplying class A drugs, but admitted two further counts of supplying class A drugs while at Glastonbury just months before Louella’s death.
