Dad’s heartbreaking victim impact statement to court

-

“souvenirs” on his phone of her suffering. Grisly iPhone images taken by Broughton at 11.25pm on September 10, 2017, show a lifeless Louella lying on her back with bloodied hands. John and Carol made a desperate 130-mile dash to the festival site in Dorset but their daughter’s body was discovered an hour into her 25th birthday on September 11. In her victim impact statement, ex-Hot Gossip dancer Carol, 68, said: “When people said life will never be the same again, I did not want to hear it, did not want to believe it. But now I know they were right.

“Our hearts have been ripped out, stamped on and then put back in our bodies again.

“We don’t think Ceon is evil. He was stupid, massively selfish and he lied.”

Louella’s sister Daisy added: “I try to understand why Ceon didn’t help her, having spoken to him and asked him to get her to a medic. What was he doing for all that time?

“I have found it impossible to work. My brother Sam and I have been forced to rent out our flats and move back home to survive each day. I am only just getting out of debt.”

Broughton refused to give evidence during the trail but yesterday his lawyer Stephen Kamlish QC said: “If he could bring her back, he would.

“Ceon wants me to say, these are his words, ‘I am sorry I did not do more to save Louella. Sorry for the suffering I have caused to everyone who loved her and I want to make things right’.”

Jailing Broughton, judge Mr Justice Goose described Louella as “a young, free-spirited woman, with everything to live for”.

He added: “She loved you and you were welcomed into her family home because they thought you loved her.

“I am satisfied that you either increased the dose or mixed the drug with something else.

“I have come to the clear conclusion your only concern was for yourself. You owed her a duty of care to do everything to help.
