Rudden makes a point as 10-man Bairns hold on

-

ZAK RUDDEN headed Falkirk level as they produced a true grit show to avoid a Friday flop in front of the TV cameras.

The Bairns trailed to a fabulous strike from Greg Kiltie before Rudden secured a precious point for the away side.

And Falkirk had to hold on in the second half after Paul Dixon was sent off for a second bookable offence.

The Bairns were first to threaten when Ian McShane picked out Jordan McGhee with a third-minute corner.

But McGhee nodded narrowly wide of the left post from eight yards.

Then Davis Keillor-Dunn let fly on the run from more than 20 yards only for Ton keeper Robby McCrorie to haul the ball down under the bar in the seventh minute.

But Morton hit back when Gregor Buchanan powered down a header a minute later that was blocked and Reece Lyon saw his close-range attempt bravely saved by Bairns keeper Harry Burgoyne.

The fast pace sparked a bust-up between the home side’s Buchanan and McShane in the 13th minute, forcing referee Andrew Dallas to wade in before booking both players.

And the battling Bairn was fortunate to escape further punishment for a shove on Buchanan while the whistler was separating the pair.

Rudden hooked a shot just past the right post as the away side pushed for that vital opener.

Ton keeper McCrorie pulled off a decent save in the 26th minute to keep the Cappielow side level when he dived to his left to smother a drive from McShane after Rudden’s pass.

But just when it looked only a matter of time before the Bairns would score, Ton produced a great opening goal from Kiltie.

He cut in from the left after a superb run and dragged the ball past three defenders before sending a reverse, low shot inside the left post in the 32nd minute.

Taunting Ton fans then began
