WE’VE GOT THE GRIT FOR TENSE RUN-IN

-

RAY McKINNON heaped praise on his 10-man Falkirk team for prising a point from the fiercely contested draw at Morton.

And he warned it wouldn’t be the last time they’d have to scrap in a tense run-in to the end of the Championship campaign.

Ton went ahead through Greg Kiltie before Zak Rudden’s header made it 1-1. But the away side had to hold on in the second half after Paul Dixon went off for a second bookable offence.

The Bairns boss said: “We were cruising in the first half. Their goal was against the run of play but it was a great response from us to go and score. We deserved to be in at half-time level at least.

“The sending-off changed the game and from then onwards we were fantastic defensively. We hardly gave them a sniff.

“Everybody’s going to have these types of games until the end of the season. Everybody is fighting for something in this league. They’re going to be tense, they’re going to be competitive.

“That’s us undefeated in our last seven games. I’m delighted for the players.

“It was another goal from Zak and that kid is unbelievable. He’s only 18. He’s leading our line and that says it all at his age.”

Morton manager Jonatan Johansson was also pleased to pocket a point but he said: “I actually think we deserved a win.

“That’s three games now in six days for us including a trip to Inverness. We’re unbeaten here since the start of the year and that was the first goal we’d lost so that was pleasing too.”
