LEAGUE ONE THOMAS O’BRIEN refuses to entertain talk of Arbroath’s sweet 16 as he’s already seen one celebration spoiled – by his team-mates.

The defender was part of the Forfar side the Red Lichties reeled in from 11 points clear two seasons ago to nab the League Two title.

O’Brien said: “It wasn’t enjoyable at all!

“I don’t get ahead of myself here. It’s obviously a place you want to be right now but it’s never over until it’s done.

“The gaffer is the kind of guy who won’t let our standards slip.

“A lot of people say to me, ‘That’s it now.’ I say, ‘No, there’s still a long way to go, there are still a lot of points to play for.’

“It only takes a couple of bad games, that’s why we’re not taking our foot off the gas in training.”

While silverware is in view for Arbroath, Sons boss Jim Duffy is simply enjoying the sight of subs on his bench.

Duffy said: “In terms of the squad strength it’s probably as heavy an injury list as I can remember.

“It’s better, it’s not brilliant, we’ve still only got four subs but nevertheless it’s a good bit better than what it was.” DUMBARTON have Grant Adam available to face Arbroath who have Colin Hamilton, David Gold, Michael McKenna and Ryan Wallace doubtful. Jamie Gullan is added for
