Gerrard: We must be ready for Reds backlash
FROM BACK PAGE Gerrard has told his players to be ready for a Reds revenge mission but insists they did nothing wrong in celebrating their recent victory.
He said: “The dressing rooms are basically sitting right on top of each other.
“If you win a game there and are happy and your players celebrate, which they deserve to do, I’m sure they’re going to hear it next door. That would be the case if it was the other way round.
“But I’m sure it will come up in their team talk and we have to be ready for that.”
Meanwhile, Gerrard has told Carlos Queiroz to hand Alfredo Morelos the call-up he deserves. The new Colombia boss has already asked for the Rangers manager’s mobile number as he prepares to run the rule over the Ibrox frontman.
Gerrard said: “I haven’t heard from Carlos just yet but he asked for my number. If anyone deserves an international call-up it’s Alfredo.”
And while Gerrard refused to become involved in the furore around the departure of Brendan Rodgers from Celtic he believes the club acted smartly in appointing Neil Lennon at least until the end of the season.
He added: “It is a sensible appointment. Neil knows the club very well and has won there before.
“I’m sure they’re hoping for a seamless transition. Whether that will be the case we’ll have to wait and see.”
