Car was deliberately rammed off road
BY MAGDALENE DALZIEL A GUN was found in a crashed car after a high-speed chase.
Police last night appealed for information after the incident, which took place early on Saturday morning in the Ruchazie area of Glasgow.
A 29-year-old man was arrested after the car crash when a firearm was found in his car.
He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary following the accident on Gartloch Road, near Stepps Road, in the east end of the city at 6.30am.
A white Audi deliberately collided with his white Nissan Juke while he was driving, causing it to leave the carriageway.
The Audi, possibly a Q7 model, then drove off.
Emergency services attended and on arrival officers allegedly found a firearm in the Nissan. The injured man was arrested and charged with road traffic and firearms offences.
Inspector Craig Warren, from London Road police office, said: “Our officers have been carrying out inquiries since the collision and we now believe that the vehicles were driving at speed from Bargeddie Street and into Gartloch Road before colliding on Avenue End Road.
“We are trying to establish if the firearm recovered from the Nissan Juke was connected to this incident
“We are appealing for anyone who may have seen these two vehicles, possibly driving erratically, between Bargeddie Street and Gartloch Road before 6.30am on Saturday.
“We would also ask for anyone with any dash-cam footage that could help us to come forward.
“Something which may seem insignificant to you at the time may be the information we need.”
