What not to buy your mum on Mother’s Day

Maybe just stick to flowers or chocolates

THIS Scots Superdrug store seems to have taken its Mother’s Day promotion a little too far...

As our image shows, it amounts to a lesson – as if anyone would need it – on what NOT to buy your mum for the big day.

It can only be imagined how awkward March 31 could become if any doting son or daughter decided to buy one of the products on display next to the Mother’s Day sign.

We would strongly suggest a bunch of flowers, some nice luxury chocolates, lovely new jewellery or even a good DVD or a book.

In fact, we would recommend just about anything apart from the pleasure gels and condoms in the Mother’s Day section of Superdrug at the Thistles Shopping Centre in Stirling.

One stunned shopper said: “I had to do a double-take.

“If there was a competition for the most inappropriate gift for this Mother’s Day, then Superdrug nailed it. I would hate to be the son or daughter tempted by this offer.

“Your mum would probably never speak to you again.”

A Superdrug spokeswoman said: “We’re always looking to offer our customers new and interesting gifting suggestions.

“This time round, however, a Mother’s Day suggestion was mistakenly placed in the wrong aisle.

“Since you kindly alerted us to it, we’ve now contacted the store and asked them to move the sign closer to other gifting ideas.”
