FROM BACK PAGE unfurled a banner in Spanish that said: “Morelos tu madre es un colchón” – loosely translated as “your mother is a mattress”.

Pittodrie bosses are investigating who was responsible for the distasteful sign and how it was smuggled in.

Aberdeen confirmed to Record Sport they are working with police to deal a number of flashpoints from the 1-1 draw and also conducting their own review of the powderkeg fixture.

The club are keen to discover how the sign got past security as all flags and banners have to be authorised before they are allowed into the stadium.

Rangers are set for a bill in excess of £3000 for the repair of the seats while it is understood there was also damage to toilets in the away end at Pittodrie.

Gers took 2000 fans to the north east – half of the allowance they were due for a Scottish Cup quarter-final – while there were six arrests during the clash for disorder and incidents involving flares.

Match commander Supt Richard Craig said: “A very small minority were involved in disorderly behaviour. They will be firmly dealt with.”

Meanwhile, Aberdeen are set to take their usual allowance of around 850 tickets for the Ibrox replay.

SFA rules allow for a 20 per cent allocation – roughly 10,000 – but it is understood the Dons will opt against requesting a larger amount of seats.
