Kerr: One last push and a play-off place is ours

-

MARK KERR believes Ayr have to make one last push in order to secure a play-off spot.

The midfielder reckons finishing in the top four would be just reward for a fantastic campaign for Ian McCall’s side.

The 37 year-old veteran said: “Initially we wanted to be the team that surprised everybody but we’ve been in and around the top of the table for so long now.

“Our targets have changed throughout the season and the reality is we’ve actually put ourselves in a good position to BY ANTHONY HAGGERTY reach the play-offs. The finishing line is in sight. We’ve got our end goal and are determined not to miss out after coming this far.

“The play-offs would be massive for a club like Ayr.

“It is something to strive for and we know if we can give it one final push we can make it. There are 10 games left and it has now become a mini-season for us.”

Ayr travel to Kerr’s former club Falkirk having tasted victory just once in their last five matches. And he admits it’s time they got back on the winning trail. Kerr added: “I like going back to Falkirk.

“The fans always give me a good reception as they’re very appreciative of what I gave them in my two spells with the club.

“This game will be hard as they have strung some decent results together and are aiming to move away from the relegation zone.

“It’s good to see they’ve picked up recently but none of that matters as I’ve got my job to do with Ayr and we need the points just as much as Falkirk.”
