MUIR’S GLORY GOT STAR WANTING MO

-

SIR MO FARAH admits seeing the Glasgow crowd go wild for Laura Muir at the European champs has him weighing up a return to the track for Worlds.

The four-time Olympic champion called time on his track career in 2017 to focus on marathons.

But the 35-year-old has given the clearest indication yet he is weighing up a comeback in Doha to defend his 10,000m title.

Muir wowed last week with a double double in the 1500m and 3000m.

And Farah has confirmed that should he tick the box of winning next month’s London Marathon then competing at the Worlds this autumn in the 10,000m is a genuine possibility.

He said: “It all depends on the result in London.

“Having seen my fellow athletes who I’ve competed against in the past and watching the European Indoor Championships on TV, I was thinking, ‘Oh man! I want to get back out there’. I miss the sort of atmosphere Laura got.

“You get it at the London Marathon but I do miss the track. I do miss representing my country.

“That’s just me. If things are going well and I have a chance to win a medal then I’d love to come back and run for my country.

“But my aim now is to concentrate on the marathon.” DRIVERS will bag an extra point if they clock the fastest lap in a Formula One grand prix under plans set to be rubberstamped.

It is believed the F1 Commission will quickly push it through in time for the season-opening Australian Grand Prix a week tomorrow.

The one caveat is the point will only be awarded to a driver who finishes in the top 10.

It is 60 years since a point was awarded for the fastest lap as it was in place for the first 10 years of F1 from 1950 through to 1959.
