Deadly degree of suspicion

- CHEAT STV, 9pm

AN AccuSATioN of cheating in a university paper turns deadly in this cat-and-mouse psychological thriller that will keep you hooked all week.

From the writers who brought us Liar, this drama stars Katherine Kelly and Bafta-winner Molly Windsor, who battle it out in a game of wits every night until Thursday.

Katherine plays university lecturer Dr Leah Dale, who prides herself on her academic integrity and is keen for a permanent job.

Molly plays Rose, a final year student who submits a suspiciously top-grade essay. Leah confronts Rose about having help with it, but Rose takes it badly.

The drama starts with the two women facing each other in a prison visiting room.

There’s been a fatal crime but we don’t yet know who is to blame.

Then we flash back to the beginning as Rose saunters in to Leah’s sociology lecture late and Leah starts to have doubts over Rose’s work. How it all leads to a terrible crime, we may not know until the end.

There are other things going on, too. Leah and her partner Adam, played by Tom Goodman-Hill, are trying for a baby, but the relationship isn’t going well. Elsewhere, Rose has an emotionally abusive father, played by Adrian Edmondson.

Both women display questionable behaviour and it will leave you guessing as everything spirals out of control.

Katherine says: “This has all the hallmarks of a great thriller but the twists don’t land where you expect.”
