Comedian fined £300 for failing to stop after crash

COMEDIAN Phil Jupitus was fined £300 yesterday over a hit-and-run crash.
The 56-year-old, known for his appearances on TV shows such as Never Mind the Buzzcocks and QI, was driving his Volvo XC60 when he collided with a Ford Ranger in Fife.
He failed to stop and give his details to the owner of the Ford after the incident on Main Street, BY JAMIE BEATSON Colinsburgh, on December 21 last year.
Jupitus, who lives in nearby Pittenweem, wasn’t present for the short hearing at Dundee Justice of the Peace Court.
He pled guilty to a charge of failing to stop at the scene of an accident.
His not guilty plea to a second charge of failing to report the accident to police within 24 hours was accepted by the Crown.
Lynne Mannion, prosecuting, said Jupitus had no previous convictions and no live points on his driving licence.
Justice of the Peace Sarah Walker said: “Due to the early plea I will impose a fine of £450, reduced to £300.”
She also placed five points on Jupitus’s driving licence. IN THE first season of Made in Chelsea in 2011, Millie hurled a cocktail in Hugo’s face when he apologised for cheating with her pal, Rosie Fortescue.
