BIG BOY IS THE MANN

- BY GARRY OWEN

CAPONE (3.40) can gun down his rivals in the MansionBet Handicap Hurdle at Huntingdon.

The gelding is the best hurdler Charlie Mann has trained for a while and ran a blinder when second to the classy Quel Destin at Haydock.

I doubt we’ve seen the best of this exciting juvenile who can see off exposed rivals.

BLACK ANTHEM (3.05) can call the tune for Brian Barr in handicap chase. The gelding has quirks but is progressing nicely over fences and can build on defeat of Gentleman Moore at Wincanton. Cash in on Grant Cann’s SAVE THE PENNIES (4.10) in the Mansion bet App Handicap Hurdle. The eight-year-old edged out the useful Compadre here on his handicap bow and remains open to plenty of progress over staying trips.

DOLLNAMIX (2.50) can toy with the opposition for in-form Emma Lavelle at Taunton. The eight-year-old was unlucky to encounter the thriving Silver

Quay over course and distance in January and can go one better despite a 3lb hike. Mick Channon’s POUCOR (4.00) can bounce back in the Archer Mann Handicap Hurdle. The gelding ran better than the bare result when seventh in a Ascot novice and can resume winning ways down class.

DANCING SHADOW (4.30) is difficult to oppose in the Collier Memorial Handicap Chase. Vic Dartnall’s gelding is a quality stayer at best and lurks on an attractive mark.

GONNA BE GOOD (5.05) flopped over fences at Uttoxeter but is much better over timber and can strike for Jeremy Scott.

MINELLA WARRIOR (3.15) can take command in the feature handicap hurdle at Wetherby. Kim Bailey’s horse is developing into a decent stayer who remains open to progress after giving talented Not Many Left a fright at Huntingdon.

BORDER VICTOR (3.50) can take a competitive three-miler. The hurdler benefited from wind surgery when second to Manse Rayder over 2m 5f at Carlisle.

Noel Fehily will have his final rides before retirement at Newbury on Saturday.

Jedd O’Keeffe said Stayers’ Hurdle second Sam Spinner could bid for compensation in in Grade 1 three-miler at Aintree next month.
