Use EU elections to send a strong message to May

Their right-wing, xenophobic rhetoric is dangerous – it debases the EU debate – and Jeremy Corbyn is as out-of-touch as ever. Despite his party officially backing a second EU referendum, the Labour leader has been utterly disgracefu­l.

It is no secret that Corbyn has ducked and dived on the issue of a second EU referendum, but at this crucial crossroads, it is high time he commits to putting a second referendum on the table as the only way forward. It would GLASGOW’S Royal Infirmary was ranked one of the world’s top hospitals in a new poll this week.

This achievemen­t is, in no small part, down to the tremendous work of our NHS nurses, doctors, porters, cleaners and all those who all work tirelessly and play their part in making the Royal the successful place that it is.

The hospital was noted specifical­ly for patient care and medical advancemen­t in feedback taken from medical profession­als, patients and performanc­e indicators. be unforgivab­le if Corbyn side-stepped a second EU referendum during talks with the Tories and instead pushed through a deal that would drag Scotland out of the single market and end freedom of movement – which will hit our public services and cost thousands of jobs.

With the EU granting an extension to Article 50, it is crucial that this time is used to secure a second EU referendum.

It looks more and more likely that the UK will be holding elections to the EU.

Against the backdrop of chaos from the Westminste­r parties, Scotland now faces a choice – to back political parties that are hell-bent on delivering Brexit, or vote SNP to send a strong message that Scotland wants to have a seat at the European table to protect our rights as European citizens.

Scotland cannot risk falling victim to a damaging backroom Brexit deal cooked up by the Tories and signed, sealed and delivered by the Labour party.

People in Scotland have been ignored throughout the Brexit process.

Any pretence that Scotland is treated as an equal partner in the UK has gone out the window. Whatever happens now, it is clear the only way to properly protect Scotland’s interests is with independen­ce.
