Let’s talk about sex then, Lee

Lee’s not relishing telling the twins about the birds and the bees NOT GOING OUT
BBC1, 9pm A TOPICAL episode of the long- running comedy tonight as Lee is faced with the trauma of telling his kids about the birds and the bees.
With the news the Government plans to overhaul the teaching of sex education in schools by 2020, it’s a hot topic. And in the sitcom world, Lee (Lee Mack) is absolutely horrified that the twins have started learning about the subject in class.
Benji and Molly, both primary school age, have certainly been behaving differently. Nipples have been drawn on Barbie and Action Man has been in a spot of bother too.
“It’s a bit weird,” Lee moans to his long-suffering wife Lucy (Sally Bretton), who has no issue that the kids have been learning RSE – relationship and sex education.
After a chat with mate Toby (Hugh Dennis) about the “messy, squelchy bits”, Lee resolves to teach the twins everything he knows before their no-nonsense teacher Miss Anstis corrupts them.
The problem is that Lee learnt everything he knows from old copies of Razzle, and telling your kids about sex is a lot tougher than he imagines.
Lee also finds himself faced with home truths about his skills (or lack of) in the bedroom, plus a complicated diagram of the female body.
The whole thing, of course, is a nice set up for plenty of what this comedy does best – quick-fire gags and naughty innuendo.
By the end, any parent of young children with big questions will be praying for schools to do the honours.
