Mar 2, 1940 – Born in Bellshill. Later spotted by former Celt Bobby Collins playing for Our Lady’s High.

Aug 20, 1957 – Signs pro contract with Celtic.

Aug 23, 1958 – Debut in 2-0 home win over Clyde.

Apr 24, 1965 – Delivers Jock Stein’s first trophy as Celtic boss with winning goal in Scottish Cup Final.

1966 – Captains Celtic to league and League Cup double, reaching European Cup-Winners’ Cup semi-finals.

1967 – Celtic complete clean sweep of domestic honours.

May 25, 1967 – Leads Celtic to greatest triumph, beating Inter in European Cup Final.

1966-74 – Plays in every title win of Celtic’s nine league championsh­ips in a row.

1965-1975 – Lifts seven Scottish Cups as captain and six Scottish League Cups.

May 3, 1975 – Carried off park by Hoops team-mates and retires after 3-1 Scottish Cup Final win over Airdrie.

1978 – Succeeds Stein as Celtic boss after spells in charge at Clyde and Aberdeen.

1978-1983 – Wins three league titles, two Scottish Cups and one League Cup.

May 1987 – Returns to Celtic after managing Manchester City and Aston Villa.

1988 – Delivers league and Scottish Cup double in centenary season.

May 20, 1989 – Celtic win Scottish Cup, his last trophy as manager.

May 1991 – Sacked with club in turmoil. Jul 2009 – Named Celtic’s official ambassador. Dec 2015 – McNeill statue unveiled at Celtic Park. Feb 2017 – Family go public over star’s dementia. Apr 16, 2019 – Lifts Athletic Bilbao’s One Club Award. Apr 22, 2019 – Dies, aged 79, after long battle with dementia.
