Parents’ joy as Cameron arrives to complete their household

- BY HEATHER MAIN

CONGRATULATIONS to Alexis and David Brett and their 10 sons who are joined by a new member of the family, a girl.

They never planned to have a large family.. Now they have a football team on their hands.

A SCOTS couple who have 10 sons have finally had a baby girl.

Alexis Brett, 39, had resigned herself to living in an all-male household.

But she and husband David, 44, were stunned after she gave birth to a baby girl, Cameron.

The couple, from Dingwall, say they will finally stop having children now that their family is “complete”.

Alexis – who was the first British mum to give birth to 10 boys in a row – said she was “over the moon” about her huge family’s latest arrival.

She said: “I’d been expecting to hear we were having another boy. But when I found out it was a girl, my face was a picture.

“I was shocked, but delighted. Now she’s here with us, it’s a fantastic feeling.”

Train driver David said Cameron was already having an impact on her brothers, aged two to 17.

He said: “They have generally been much better behaved around her, trying to keep quiet in case they wake her up. They also want to help with holding and feeding her – it’s been great.” Alexis added: “We’re definitely stopping now. “There’ll be no more. I said that last time but this time I absolutely mean it. I love my family as it is now.” Cameron is the youngest of 11, including Campbell, 17, Harrison, 16, Corey, 14, Lachlan, 11, Brodie, nine, Brahn, eight, Hunter, six, Mack, five, Blake, three, and Rothagaidh, two.

Alexis said she often gets comments about the size of her family, with some internet trolls falsely claiming that she and David, who has early-onset Parkinson’s, are on benefits.

She said: “It doesn’t bother me what people think, we’re well used to it. David has a good job, which means we don’t even qualify for full child benefit.”

Alexis discovered she was pregnant on Christmas Eve and the couple drove 50 miles to Elgin, Moray, to have a gender scan.

Admitting she “never planned to have a large family,” Alexis said she believes she is “immune” to most birth control.

She is now thinking about getting sterilised, as she plans to return to her new job as a part-time fitness instructor in a few weeks.
