Family’s joy after being reunited with beloved lamb stolen by white van man

BY CHARLIE GALL c.gall@dailyrecord.co.uk A PET lamb snatched by a white van driver was last night reunited with her overjoyed family.

Mum Gemma MacLeod and her five children were left devastated after Effie was bundled into the back of the van on Saturday night.

They had been caring for the cuddly Texel lamb since she was born in April.

The weakest of triplets, she had a bad leg, which at first left her lame.

Gemma told how she looked on in horror as a Ford Transit pulled up near her home and a brazen thief grabbed Effie, tossing her in.

Effie had slipped through a gap in the fence at their Cromdale home near Grantown, Speyside. Gutted Gemma feared the worst but yesterday, following a social media storm, Effie’s captor dumped her more than 20 miles away.

Delighted and relieved Gemma announced on Facebook: “Effie is home. A bit thin, a bit wary but it’s her.”

Alongside a picture of Effie, Gemma added: “Look who we picked up from the other side of Rothes.

“We got a call this morning and lovely helpful people told us where she was.” Earlier, Gemma told how the family’s beloved lamb was kidnapped: “I was sitting outside with a friend and hadn’t noticed she had slipped through.

“The van parked up, Effie ran towards them because she’s very friendly. I thought the man was going to pick her up and pop her back over the fence, I couldn’t believe he took her away.”

Yesterday, Gemma was thrilled to reunite Effie with her children Jack, 13, Zara, 11, Ailish, eight, Cailean, seven, and Orran, six, when they got home from school.
