SHOCKED BY NUDE PARENTS PICS

-

Dear Coleen

I’M AN 18-year-old male and recently when I was doing an assignment for college on my family’s computer, I opened a file with nude photos of my parents in it.

The photos were obviously meant for their eyes only but they must have forgotten to remove the folder from the computer’s desktop.

I was disgusted and can’t un-see those images. But I’m too embarrassed to tell my parents about what I stumbled across.

Have you any advice? I think they know something is up, as I’ve been living in my bedroom.

Coleen says

YES, that must have been a shock – no one wants to stumble across those types of images of their parents.

Clearly, they should have taken a lot more care if this computer is available for the rest of the family to use.

I think if this is something you’re going to worry about, then you need to say something to them. I realise it’s rather awkward and embarrassing but, ultimately, you don’t want it to affect how you get on with your parents.

You think they know something’s up, so why not just mention it in passing to the parent you feel less embarrassed talking to.

Perhaps say something along the lines of: “You might want to move the folder of intimate photos from the computer because I accidentally opened it the other day”. I’m sure your parents will be mortified and sorry and it might be awkward for a little while. But I’m sure once it’s acknowledged and dealt with, you’ll be able to move on from it.

I’m sure they won’t make the same mistake twice.
