Knifed is to death in front of kids
Chris, 27, slain as tots were colouring
DAD Chris Nicol, 27, is murdered by masked intruder as his five and six-year-old children watch in horror.
A YOUNG dad was brutally knifed to death in his own living room as his children of five and six were playing with colouring books.
Chris Nicol, 27, was defenceless when a man wearing a scarf round his face knocked on his door, viciously pushed Chris’s partner aside and then carried out the savage attack as his son and daughter looked on.
Detectives said the pitiless murder in Greenock last week will “live with the children for the rest of their lives” and said the attacker would have left the scene covered in blood.
Officers added yesterday that the response to pleas for information from the local community had been “limited”.
Describing the evening of the horrific attack, Detective Chief Inspector Martin Fergus of the Major Investigations Team said: “A family scene, him, his two children, and his partner, making dinner, colouring-in books, any family scene you would get up and down the length of this country.
“A perpetrator attended the address, just after 9pm, and having opened the door, the partner was pushed aside, the male entered the living room armed with a knife in his right hand, and brutally stabbed Christopher to death in the presence of his children.”
DCI Fergus said Chris was known to police but was not involved in any organised crime.
He addedd: “I can confirm Christopher Nicol did do low-level social drug dealing, cannabis dealing, but to friends and associates he is known as a family man.”
He said the attacker may be being shielded by someone in the community and added: “Look at the facts.
“A six-year-old girl and a five-year-old boy have just seen their father slain in their presence and they’re going to have to live with that for the rest of their lives.”
