OP MEANS I’VE GOT TO TAKE IT KNEESY

But 72-year-old aims to be back on his feet within a month ..and is keen to do another five series of his popular show Simply the boast ..craziest claims of contestants

BY RICK FULTON PEOPLE will say anything to get a job – but most of us aren’t on television while we’re doing it.

The Apprentice returns tonight, so cue the cringe-inducing claims from candidates as they try to prove why Lord Alan Sugar should choose them.

Of course, the man with the pointy finger of doom isn’t immune to making absurd comments.

In 2005 he claimed: “Next Christmas the iPod will be dead, finished, gone, kaput.” Oops.

As series 15 kicks off, here are our favourite barmy boasts from previous Apprentices. “As a salesperson, I would rate myself as probably the best in Europe,” Jennifer Maguire, series four “There are two types of people in the world. Winners and… I don’t know how to say the word, I can’t say it.” Ian Stringer, series four “Everything I touch turns to sold.” Stuart Baggs, series six “I’m not a one-trick pony, I’m not a 10-trick pony. I’ve got a whole field of ponies waiting to literally run towards this job.” Stuart Baggs, series six “I think outside the box. If I was an apple pie, the apples inside me would be oranges.” Alex Epstein, series six “I regret not becoming a scientist so I could clone myself and be more successful in half the time.” Bianca Miller, series 10 “Business is the new rock ’n’ roll and I’m Elvis Presley.” Philip Taylor, series five “My first word wasn’t mummy, it was money.” Shibby Robati, series six “Don’t tell me the sky’s the limit when there are footprints on the Moon.” Melody Hossaini, series seven “I have the energy of a Duracell bunny, sex appeal of Jessica Rabbit and a brain like Einstein.” Luisa Zissman, series nine “There’s no need to watch your back when I’m already two steps in front.” Frank Brooks, series 14 “Some people say money can’t make you happy, but I’d rather cry in a sports car than cry in a banger.” Daniel Elahi, series 14
